Price tag for Samsung OLED TVs will not drop anytime soon as the industry still faces some hurdles to overcome in the manufacturing process.

In a recent article posted by USA Today, Samsung VP HS Kim mentioned that OLED isn’t ready for mass production quite yet and that prices are unlikely to fall for another 3 to 4 years.

OLED TVs are currently priced at around US $9000, well above the average price range for consumers. “Not many consumers trued to purchase OLED TVs at that price. Price is our greatest barrier. So our attempt to expand the market didn’t really go well,” said Kim.

Although originally estimated last year to begin dropping in price within 3 to 4 years, manufacturing hurdles proved more difficult to overcome than the company originally anticipated.

“I’m really, really terribly sorry to say this, but it will take more time. I believe it will take around 3 to 4 years [for cheaper OLED TVs to come to market],” said Kim.
